My favorite fringe theory: we evolved from aquatic apes

We are we so different from the chimpanzees? We are naked bipeds. Why? The Savanna theory has recently been found to be quite unlikely. So what are the alternatives?

  1. @abe I don’t find those arguments compelling. The first page I looked says rhinoceros are not (and have never been) aquatic, but doesn’t bother to provide any evidence at all.

A quick look at wikipedia mentions the Amynodontidae family that was probably aquatic, and the family of modern rhinos, Rhinocerotidae. I don’t see what’s the probable original habitat of that family, but I don’t think there’s evidence enough to be completely certain.
